Privacy
Short version: what you read stays on your Mac. No account. No tracking.

The app
- Your text stays on your Mac. Reading aloud, the word highlight and language detection all happen on your Mac. No text, audio or other data is sent anywhere.
- No account. You don't sign up. We don't know who you are.
- No tracking. No analytics, no ads, no crash reports sent to us.
- The app does not connect to the internet. The beta has no online features at all.
The Accessibility permission
macOS asks you to allow this. The app uses it for two things only:
- to get the text you selected, and
- to find where each word is on screen, so it can highlight it.
It only reads text when you ask it to. It does not record your screen or what you type. You can turn the permission off any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
Voices
The app uses voices that are on your Mac. If you download a new Apple voice, that download is between you and Apple.
If this ever changes
A later version may check online for updates. If it does, it will only ask our server "is there a new version?".
Like any web request, that shows the server your IP address and app version. It never includes your text. We will update this page before that version ships.
Buying Pro
Pro is sold by a payment company (a "merchant of record"), such as Paddle or Dodo Payments. They handle the payment, taxes and receipts.
- Card details: they collect your payment details. We never see your card number.
- What we get: your email address, country and order details. We use these only to send your licence, help you, and handle refunds.
- Their policy: their own privacy policy also applies to the payment.
This website
- No cookies and no analytics. We don't track visits.
- Hosting: like every web host, our host keeps short-term server logs (IP address, page asked for, time) to keep the site running and safe.
- No third parties. Fonts, images and scripts all come from this website. Your browser doesn't contact Google or anyone else.
- "Listen to this page" uses your own browser's speech. Nothing is sent to us.
If we ever add analytics, we will list here exactly which tool and what it collects, before we turn it on.
If you email us (for the beta, feedback or support), we use your email only to reply. We don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask. Ask us any time to delete your emails.
Children
The app collects nothing, so it is safe for children to use. If a child emails us, we only use the email to reply.
